What GPS Stakeout is — and isn't
GPS Stakeout is a property-awareness and professional field tool. Use it to explore your own property — walk your deed, understand your parcel's shape, and get an approximate sense of where your lines run — or as a field aid for licensed surveyors and their crews.
It shows approximate, deed-derived locations anchored by consumer GPS. It is not a survey and does not replace one. Only a licensed Professional Land Surveyor can establish or certify a property corner. For anything legal or precise — a fence on the line, construction, a sale, or a boundary question — rely on a licensed survey. See the Appropriate Use & Legal Boundaries notes for details.

Privacy Policy
Effective date: January 1, 2025
RiverTop Development, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the GPS Stakeout iOS application (the "App"). This policy describes what data the App accesses and how it is used.
Data we collect
We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on our servers. The App has no account system, no analytics SDK, and no advertising network.
Data stored on your device
All plat data (boundary descriptions, corner coordinates, folder names) is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you unlock Pro and turn on iCloud backup, your plats also sync to your own private iCloud account so they are backed up and available on your other devices; that data is tied to your Apple ID and handled by Apple — it is never sent to RiverTop or any third party. Without iCloud enabled, your data stays on your device and is only shared when you explicitly export it.
Location data
The App requests access to your device location to navigate to survey corners. Location data is used in real time within the App and is never transmitted to us or any third party.
Camera
The App requests camera access for two purposes: (1) AR boundary overlay mode, which overlays property lines on the live camera view; and (2) photographing deed documents for on-device text recognition. All image processing is performed locally using Apple's Vision framework. No images are transmitted to any server.
Bluetooth
The App uses Bluetooth to connect to external GPS receivers. No data is transmitted to us through this connection.
PLSS lookup
When using the PLSS section corner lookup feature, the App queries the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) public GIS API. This request includes township, range, and section numbers only — no personal information.
Third-party services
The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash reporting services.
Data deletion
Your data is under your control at all times. To delete all plat data and app settings, delete the App from your device (and, if you use iCloud backup, remove the app's data from your iCloud in the iOS Settings). Individual plats can be deleted within the App at any time. RiverTop keeps no copy of your data and cannot access or delete it on your behalf.
California residents (CCPA)
We do not sell, share, or disclose personal information to third parties for commercial purposes. Because we collect no personal data on our servers, there is nothing to request access to, correct, or delete from us. California residents with questions may contact us at the address below.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at this URL. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
